ISH China 2008 – China International Trade Fair for Heating and Air-conditioning

Exhibitors and visitors praise the first ISH China exhibition held in Shanghai

. The 7th ISH China took place in Shanghai from 19 – 22 February 2008. The fair – one of China’s biggest and best known HVAC industry events – moved from its usual venue in Beijing for the first time this year to give 223 exhibitors from 18 countries and regions exposure to a new regional market. Over 7,100 visitors attended the fair, with about 12% from overseas. The top ten visiting countries were China, Korea, Japan, Russia, Germany, Turkey, Italy, Ukraine, the USA, and Spain.

On 15,000 sqm of floor space exhibitors showcased a wide range of items, mainly modern heating installations and equipment, air-conditioning and ventilation products, with a particular focus on energy-saving and renewable energy products. 

“The German Pavilion displayed a wide range of products from all spectrums of technical building equipment. Exhibitors commended the quality and professionalism of this year’s visitors,” said Mr. Günther Mertz, Managing Director for the Professional Institute for Air Conditioning in Buildings. 

Mr Mertz further stated commented on the relevance of this event in the nation. “The growing Chinese market will become more and more important for both the European and German technical building industries to exchange information and technology.”

Throughout the event, visitors were exposed to the latest environmental-friendly technologies at one of the many product presentations offered, including leading German brand, Viessmann. “We used this event as a platform to launch the new generation wall-hung boiler family with 20, 24 and 30 kW. Insightful information was not only offered on the booth but also during academy trainings on big boilers, solar technology and heat pumps open to all ISH visitors,” said Dr. Hansueli Bruderer, General Manager for Viessmann China. “The ISH brand once again proved to be a leading fair for heating and air-conditioning sectors in China by providing this informative sourcing platform”.

Exhibitors and visitors pleased with first ISH event held in Shanghai


Exhibitors at the ISH China 2008 met with plenty of new buyers from the Eastern region of China and abroad. This year’s largest booth exhibitor was the top Italian brand Ferroli. Mr. Mario Cioccolo, Asia Director gave high praise for this year’s event. “The ISH brand is the most important event in this industry. As third time exhibitors, we are pleased with our investment at the first ISH show held in Shanghai. We have been able to promote the Ferroli brand in a new market within China. We have received positive feedback at this year’s event and will definitely return in 2010”. 

Mr. Steven ter Beek, Global Sales Director for Fluidics Instruments BV, manufacturers of oil atomizers from the Netherlands was also happy with the number of visitors at Shanghai’s first ISH China event. “So far, this event has been an excellent venture for us as we have been able to meet with serious international and national buyers. We have been equally impressed with the number of professionals who have attended this essentially new event in the Shanghai market. Without a doubt, we will return as exhibitors in 2010 to maintain our visibility and penetrate this large market.”

Beijing exhibitors Steam and Hot-Water Substation manufacturers, also celebrated the high levels of internationality at this year’s event. “The whole trade atmosphere at ISH China is great! We’ve met with plenty of international visitors who have been our target clients. It’s by far an excellent opportunity for us to broaden our sales network,“ said Ms Wei Jie, Head of Administration.

Industry professionals from the Eastern region of China were eager to participate in the first HVAC event held in Shanghai. “ISH China 2008 proved to be a successful move from Beijing to Shanghai. Among similar and relevant exhibitions in the nation, the scale and standards of this event was exceptional,” said Mr. Zhang Jianzhong, Chief Engineer for the Nanjing Architectural Design & Research Institute Co., Ltd.

Mr. Zhang participated in this year’s event with a group of industry professionals from the Nanjing region. “Many of our designers and developers were very interested in technologies on floor heating, radiating ceilings and energy saving air-conditioning products. We have been thrilled to have made so many new business contacts at this highly specialised and informative event.” 

Mr T John Chan, Strategic Advisor for Titeflex Corporation echoed Mr. Zhang’s sentiments, “this is the first ISH China event that I have visited and I am quite pleased. I came to look for natural gas related suppliers and was able to meet with my target suppliers. I even found some potential business prospects from Guangzhou.”

Value added events prove to be a success at the 7th ISH China

 The Sino-European Congress proved to be a success as it welcomed over 250 attendees, all ready to exchange the latest market information and relevant topics concerning the HVAC industry, most notably the subject of renewable energies. 

Mr Andreas Luecke, Secretary of Economic Commission for the Association of European Heating Industry, raised the importance of the unique dialog between Chinese and European professionals at ISH China, during his welcome remarks at the event’s opening ceremony. “By addressing this subject, the organisers of ISH China, recognise that the Chinese government has established very ambitious goals concerning renewable energies and strive to utilize these technologies for the continued preservation of our natural resources.”

Attendees were equally impressed with this year’s value added events. First time attendee, Mr Xia Yan, came to gather the latest building industry information. “I’d like to be informed of those applications which are still new to the domestic market but mature in the European one. The event has attracted and inspired me,” Mr Yan said.

The ‘Living with Water, Warmth & Air’ State of the art showcase and forum was also well received by attendees at this year’s ISH China. Ms. Gu Yirong, Vice President of the Heating Sub-Council, Shanghai Building Materials Industry Association, commented on the successful launch of the informative event. “The organisation of the fair is excellent, especially the showcase and forum. The success of these events is an extension of Messe Frankfurt’s professional services offered.”
