[inspic=13,left,,120]GF Piping Systems, a Corporate Group of Georg Fischer AG, inaugurated on 4 November its new production facility in Ratnagiri, India. The Corporation has invested several million Swiss francs in constructing this completely new factory in the port town, which is located 300 kilometres south of Mumbai. The plant, situated on a 50,000 sq. metre site, will manufacture products destined mainly for the expansion of India’s natural gas network. “With its population of 1.3 billion and huge pent-up demand for infrastructure projects, India is an important part of our growth strategy. Gas distribution is certainly a growth sector. Plans are currently underway to make piped gas available to more than 200 cities,” said Pietro Lori, Head of GF Piping Systems. The opening of the factory in India is a further milestone for GF in expanding its presence in Asia. GF Piping Systems has had a sales presence on the subcontinent for about 20 years, and the new factory will enable it to serve the market even more effectively.
