Pipelife Poland powers up for larger diameter fittings

Donnerstag, Dezember 11th, 2008

Market demand for sewer products in Poland is such that Pipelife Polska recently took delivery of what amounts to the largest injection moulding machine within the Group.

While producing its fittings, this giant machine (4,240 x 15,332 x 8,000mm) packs a clamping force of 2,000 tons (20,000kN) and weighs 136 tons! Michal Mierzejewski, Marketing manager of the firm is delighted with the new production asset. “It means we can make large diameter fittings for OD 630 and even ID 600 – 800 mm.
Throughout Poland, our city and rural sewer networks are being steadily renovated or replaced. With this added capacity, our supply chain will be all the more efficient and cost effective.”….more: Kwd-globalpipe, 2008-11-25, No. 300

REHAU has made a strategic decision to shift its business away from the production and sale of commodity products, and to expand its range of energy-efficiency products. Product lines that will be discontinued are PVC pressure and sewer pipe and PEX plumbing systems. This decision is based on a long-term view of the market and is not a reaction to the current short-term market downturn.

We expect future market requirements to have a major impact on plumbing systems materials. In response to these anticipated changes, responsible plumbing suppliers such as REHAU will be required to invest millions of dollars in developing new technical solutions. We will not gamble with our future . For many months, REHAU has been developing a technical solution that addresses the requirements of the future and is backed by considerable global experience. Unfortunately, this solution would come with a significantly higher price tag, which we could not pass along to the market. As a result, we have decided to exit the PEX plumbing systems business in the United States and Canada.

Our timeline is as follows: ….more: KWD-globalpipe, 2008-11-25, No.300.
