In selected projects, dedicated teams are working on solutions to achieve the high, but necessary targets set by the Pipelife Management. So far already good achievements can be reported (2011 vs. 2010), like reduction of CO₂ emission/kg of produced goods by 3%, energy use by 4% or a decreased water consumption by 3,5%. However we want more and the targets set for 2015 illustrate and underline this commitment! In 2013, Pipelife for the first time will publish a CSR report according to GRI rules, which will cover all our approaches towards this extremely important topic!

Pipelife does not only set group-wide targets, but demands from every Pipelife company, even every single Pipelife employee to think and act green, not only during his/her work, but also in private life. As consequence, lots of local projects and initiatives have arisen. Pipelife Hungary, for example, promised for every 2 mio meter of produced Radopress pipes to plant a tree within the surroundings of the production plant. Certainly this promise is kept and so far, 7 trees have been planted already.

Also, trough innovation management, mainly via Pipelife’s group wide idea collection system, lot of green ideas have been generated and the majority of them has already been implemented.

According to latest news from customer, in the beginning of 2012, the butt welded PE/Al/PE composite pipe production line, produced and installed by the Chinese Advance-tech in Tunis, has passed acceptance and start to produce with continual and stable production of ultrathin butt welded PE/Al/PE composite pipe at 20m/mins.

In the early years, only a few Germany manufacturers could provide such complex technology of butt welded PE/Al/PE composite pipe. Now, Advance-tech takes the lead in composite pipe field and provides professional and mature technology with several year efforts in it. AEI Compounds launched their new look at the Wire 2012 exhibition in Düsseldorf (photo: AEI compounds)

Wire 2012 is dedicated to the wire and cable industry, attracting visitors from all over the world and is an important shop window for AEI’s expanding range of thermoplastic and crosslinkable compounds.  Key compounds presented at the show were those with:-

• Oil resistance for rail cable and ship wiring
• Char forming properties for fire survival and CPD rated cable
• Crack resistance for use on armoured cable for hot climates
• Flexibility for appliance wiring and cords

Visitors were welcomed on the stand from over 30 different countries with strong contingents from Europe, Africa, India, Middle East, USA and South America.  During the five days AEI were extremely pleased to welcome a large number of their existing customers as well as making the acquaintance of a number of important new contacts.  Their colleagues from the USA also joined AEI, giving their support and taking the opportunity to meet many of these customers for the first time.

Whilst the number of visitors was not as high as in previous years, the event was considered a great success and AEI look forward to working closely with those who visited to realise their common goals.

In September AEI will be present for the first time at the Wire China 2012 show in Shanghai and they are sure this will be as successful as their time in Düsseldorf.  AEI thanks everyone who took the time to meet them at the show in March and they look forward to getting to know many more new people in the Far East later in the year.

The COES production capacitiy of PE-Xb/Al/ multilayer pipes has been around 25 million meters per year. Italy is after Germany the second largest producer of multilayer pipes (Source: KWD Market+Charts “Multilayer Pipes worldwide 2010”).

As a result of the worldwide financial crisis, many Italian mult layer pipe producers had problems: Newly supplied machinery and equipment has not become operational and other extrusion lines have been closed.

IPA, the 1st multilayer pipe producer in the Arab-African area since 2001 with his very well-known IPALPEX trade mark certified CSTBat and its 20 million meters capacity by year has decided to develop now its own PPR/GLASS FIBER PIPES.

IPA who always looks for the excellence and who loves the ways where difficulties are its best challenge, has just bought a new German Battenfeld PPR/FIBER production line that is able to reach diameter 250 mm and has an annual capacity of 2500 tons. It is a very interesting product as it allow pipe to keep, more or less, its nominal length even with a very high water temperature inside thanks to glass fiber stabilization. It is, again, the first time where such dimensions are reached in Africa. And as usual, IPA will count on a very high quality level by buying its raw material from the world leaders, for both PPR and Glass Fiber and by dedicating a very special training to its technicians.

With this new investment, IPA reinforces again its leading position in sanitary and heating industry in Africa.

For reminder, IPA belongs to the SCIPP group, which is the Tunisian leader in PVC with its 800 mm pipe diameter and 10 000 annual tons material transformed and HDPE pipes where SCIPP can reach 2000 mm diameter. To complete the range, SCIPP group has a company, S2E, which is specialized in producing circular and flat irrigation pipe with a very high level of quality and with a total capacity of 100 million meters by year.

Reorganisation of FRIATEC Building Services

We would like to inform you of the reorganization of the Building Services Division of FRIATEC AG in Germany and what implications this has on our existing product offering to you.

After long and careful analysis and with the agreement of the FRIATEC AG Supervisory Board, FRIATEC Building Services will be reorganised into a production centre for the extrusion of pipes, a service organisation for the supply of spare parts and after sales service. The remainder of the FRIATEC AG activities – Technical Plastics, Ceramics and Pumps – are not affected in any way.

The decision to reorganise FRIATEC Building Services impacts all the existing product lines.
A limited number of products will be discontinued. The remainder will be either substituted by an equivalent product or will continue to be available, albeit that sales and/or production may transfer to another Aliaxis Group company in Europe.

• FRIATHERM Hot & Cold Water Systems From June 1st 2012 the Hot & Cold water systems FRIATHERM multi and FRIATHERM uni will be discontinued. Spare parts for these solutions will remain readily available. System O – CPVC will replace the FRIATHERM starr / FRIATHERM rigid products from June 1st 2012 onwards. Girpi (France), our specialist sister company, will ensure sales and production for these solutions from that date forwards.
• FRIAPHON Acoustic Waste Water System Sales, service and manufacturing of FRIAPHON sound insulated waste water systems will be provided by Girpi (France) as of June 1st 2012.
• FRIABLOC Register / prefabricated grids Sanitärtechnik Eisenberg GmbH also known as SANIT (Germany) will manufacture and supply the FRIABLOC Register/prefabricated grids from June 1st 2012.
• Wefatherm products As from June 1st 2012, a dedicated team at Akatherm (The Netherlands) will ensure sales and order processing for all Wefatherm products and solutions. Production and logistics remain unchanged at the Aliaxis production centre in Wunstorf (Germany).
